Social media marketing is the best option if you're a small business owner trying to get word out about your business for the first time. It's cheaper to reach your target audience, more effective and serves as a convenient way that customers can connect with you.
New business owners often struggle to find customers to buy their products. They post a couple of posts on social media and start hoping someone would come buy their products.
Ofcourse, making the decision to market on social media is definitely a smart move. But not having an effective social media strategy — is a huge 'red flag'.
In this article, I'm going to be sharing 5 important tips when it comes to dominating social media marketing for your business.
By applying these tips I'm 100% sure you'll be able to atleast double your social media growth within the next 6 months.
Tip #1 - Plan A Content Strategy
Social media isn't the only thing that you need to worry about. So you want to dedicate a certain amount of your time to this task. Start by planning how are you going to be delivering your content and who is going to be seeing it.
Things to think about:
-Posting Schedules (What are the best times to post?)
-Posting Frequency (How will often you post)
-Audience Demographics (Age, Gender, Interests, Personality, etc...)
Tip #2 - Set A Goal
Now you have settled your strategy, set aside a realistic goal for your business. Are you trying to get followers/ sales/ web traffic/ reach? Make sure that each piece of your content is designed to achieve that goal.
Pro Tip: Instead of setting up an benchmark that's impossible for you to achieve, try focusing on the results you have and use that as a number to improve your upcoming campaigns.
"Try not to feel disappointed on bad performance, instead focus on leveraging those data on creating upcoming posts & contents. " – Arron, digital marketer.
Tip #3 - Rely On Analytics
The more you post, the better you understand your audiences. Measure growth of your social media account using analytics. Find out which are your best and worst performing posts. It tells you alot about what your audiences may likes or dislike.
You want to check back in often too. Every month should be plenty enough. But you'll be amazed how many business owners don't check their analytics anymore. Time flies!
Tip #4 - Boost Your Reach
Consider allocating a small budget for paid ads every month. If you're getting good likes and engagement on a certain post — yet there's not really enough reach on it, you can always invest a small amount of money to get more people to see it.
If your post is doing good organically, that means it'll perform even better as paid ads. Plus, using paid ads can also allow you to target audiences more specific to your business.
Tip #5 - Staying Consistent Is Key
Staying consistent is definitely the hard part when it comes to marketing on social media. Remember that social media is still work. That means it also takes up time from other important business tasks.
Results won't come easily either, most business owners only see actual growth after 3-6 months of trial-and-error. So keep in mind that frequently posting will help you get better at social media marketing!
